  • Yoga as a therapeutic modality which is well recognized for improving the motor co-ordination, flexibility and mobility of the persons with Intellectual Disability. It is held as a regular activity as a part of multidisciplinary events.

a) D.Ed Spl. Ed.(MR),two years full time courses approved by the RCI,New Delhi.
b) B. Ed. (SE-DE) MR as Study Centre under Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata Approved by the RCI,New Delhi.
c) CRE (Continuing Rehabilitation Education Programme) of the RCI for Special Education/Professional to update their knowledge and renewal of their registration of RCI.
d) Various short term courses are undertaken regularly.

Seminars, Workshops, Symposium are regularly conducted to create awareness among parents/guardians/caregivers and other communities as well and the civil society.

The Institute is involved with need-based Research and documentation in the area of rehabilitation of Children with Special Needs.

Each child is provided INDIVIDUALIZED training programme towards development of self_help, motor, functional academic, social and vocational skills. the children are evaluated quarterly to records their progress for further planning.

Children with intellectual disabilities may have some behavioral problems in addition to their sensory and intellectual deficits. The common such problems are repetitive behavior, aggressive behavior self-injurious and embarrassing behavior in public. Behavior modification programmes  for the CWSN are undertaken by a team of professionals of the institute as an essential part of training programme.

The children With Intellectual Disability usually have communication problems. The Institute provides speech therapy to them for enhancing communication skills.

Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy services are provided as per individual requirements of the children with Intellectual Disability.

Pre-Vocational training is imparted to the children with Intellectual Disability at early ages so that they can acquire enough vocational pre-requisite skills for future training in vocational area.

Parents/ Guardians are indispensible partner in rehabilitation programme of Children with Intellectual Disability. Regular parent training sessions are held to improve their participative role and quality of intervention programme at home.

Sports are integral part of physical and motor development of children with special needs. Our students are encouraged to participate at State and National level programmes including Special Olympics. Their performances are notably satisfactory.

Dance, drama, music and art etc. are performed for developing creative talents and social skills. Our students participate in different cultural activities organized by our School as well as other institutions of Kolkata and suburbs.

Medical specialists used to attend to our Institute to treat the physical ailments as and when required for our students. It also provides referral services for appropriate support.

Excursions / Educational Tours are organized every year for our students along with their parents or guardians to refresh their monotony as well as nature study.
